Overview The Simulation Lab Coordinator is responsible for supporting the nursing department in the organization and management of the nursing skills laboratory and the planning and implementation of the simulation curriculum. The Simulation Lab Coordinator must function as administrator of the Nursing Skills Laboratory, faculty trainer and instructor for the simulation curriculum, skills instructor for tutoring and skills remediation, and assigned faculty to assess re-entry candidate skills. Responsibilities Manage inventory and purchasing of all skills laboratory supplies used in the Practical Nursing curriculum
Manage all skills laboratory equipment maintenance and repair
Work with the Director of Nursing Education to maintain a plan for skills laboratory equipment acquisition
Design, preparation, and execution of all simulation experiences in the Practical Nursing curriculum
Ensure simulation curriculum congruence with term and course learning objectives
Train faculty on the simulation curriculum and running all facets of simulation
Remediate laboratory skills with students as needed
Offer practice sessions for students’ laboratory skills
Serve as Chair of the campus Simulation Committee and a member of the organization-wide skills laboratory and simulation committees
Assume teaching assignments as needed
Organize and present subject matter in a meaningful way to students
Develop course material and evaluation tools as needed, with approval of the Director of Nursing Education or the Academic Dean
Evaluate student progress
Evaluate students on professionalism (appearance/dress code, attitude, cooperation)
Maintain student records, grades, and attendance. Post on permanent record sheets daily
Research and prepare all lecture materials in advance of classpresentation
Notify students of make-up work due
Tutor students during simulation including practice in the skills laboratory and simulation make-up sessions
Keep informed of current standards related to instructional area
Ensure the learning environment is maintained in a professional manner centered on student learning
Attend outside workshops and seminars on improving instructional and professional skills when time and resources permit
Supplement student material when needed
Attend orientations, staff meetings, and faculty meetings as scheduled
Assist with preparations for graduation ceremonies
Attend graduation ceremonies
Maintain laboratory and classrooms in a neat and orderly fashion
Maintain a cheerful, enthusiastic, positive attitude
Assist financial aid and administrative departments by providing information as needed
Refer students to the Director of Nursing Education and/or Academic Dean if additional advising is necessary
Refer students having excess of two (2) absences to the Director of Nursing Education or the Academic Dean
Remain in laboratory or classroom for all assigned instructional times
Perform other duties, as assigned

Qualifications Qualifications:

Unencumbered RN license in state of TN
BSN required/ Masters (preferred)
3 years of clinical experience
3 years of sim lab experience
Flexibility and dedication
Simulation experience and certification highly preferred
Schedule
8a-5p and 1 7a-7p shift for clinical, occasional weekend shift required.
