07/01/2025 Job title: Adult Education Instructor Reports to: Director of Adult Education Receives guidance from: Director, District Administration and Support Staff, Assistant Superintendent Overtime status: Compliant with position, salary and FLSA regulations Job purpose: In keeping a tradition of excellence, the purpose of the Adult Education Instructor is to teach and counsel adult education students helping them to reach their educational goals. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Duties and responsibilities:
Knowledge of appropriate placement and diagnostic assessments Works with multiple levels of learning Knowledge of different subject areas Provides instruction in literacy; adult education; HSE test preparation; workforce preparation; integrated education and training, including career pathways; and workplace education, including National Career Readiness Certificate and Smart Start Pathway instruction Applies research-based instructional practices that incorporate the use of computers and other technologies Is knowledgeable of reading, writing, and/or math instructional strategies Uses lesson plans that integrate instruction across content areas Provides continuous feedback and adjusts instruction to maximize student learning Collaborates with colleagues to develop & evaluate curriculum and materials aligned with CCRS Integrates work, family, and community related activities into instruction Facilitates the transfer of learned skills from the classroom to the job Plans learning experiences that are interactive and relevant to the specific workplace environment Customizes and develops workplace education curriculum and lesson plans that facilitate transition from the classroom to the job based on the workforce goals and expected training outcomes Assesses and monitors learning Uses formal and informal assessment data to monitor and document student progress Collects and manages accurate data for program improvement and accountability Participates in the retention and follow-up of students Maintains knowledge of program guidelines, regulations, policies, and procedures Maintains student records Maintains a professional attitude towards students Promotes student retention through contact and counseling Adheres to local and state policies and procedures Maintains accurate records Submits reports on time Reports to duty as scheduled Uses classroom preparation time allotment on site Promotes the program within the community Lead and attend staff meetings/trainings as applicable; serve on staff committees Assume responsibility for own professional growth and development, for keeping current with literature, new research findings, for attending appropriate professional meetings and conferences, and to maintain any credits and/or continued education for maintenance of licensure/qualifications required for the position Maintain and accept responsibility for any district owned fixed asset item assigned to employee and ensure appropriate use by following district policies for acceptable use Undergo periodic evaluations according to state and board policy procedures Maintain confidentiality Regular, dependable, punctual, in person attendance is an essential function of this position Perform such other and not specifically enumerated duties as may be requested by the Board of Education, superintendent, administrator, director or established by district policy Read, understand, and abide by Employee Conduct Policy, GAB, all other district, state and federal policies, and procedures and protocols as established by RCSD and the
