Distinguishing Features of the Class
The work involves assisting with didactic presentations and practical skills training in the Emergency Medical Technician or Certified First Responder courses. The CLI is a part-time employee of the course sponsor (Erie County Health Department, EMS Division) and accountable to the Erie County EMS NYS Certified Instructor Coordinator and the Deputy Commissioner of EMS who is the Sponsor Administrator for all Erie County EMS training courses. Does related work as required.
Typical Work Activities
Assures all students are taught practical skills according to NYS EMS curriculum and NYS BLS Protocol;
Maintains consistency and uniformity when demonstrating practical skills;
Assures the students are supervised during practice sessions;
Bring problems with students to the attention of the NYS Certified Instructor Coordinator;
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from high school or possession of high school equivalency diploma with at least two (2) years experience as a NYS Certified EMT and at least three (3) years experience as a member of prehospital emergency medical care agency•.
Special Requirements
Must maintain NYS EMT certification;
Must maintain NYS Certified Lab Instructor certification.

This position is not eligible for remote work under any circumstances. The duties of this role require full-time, on-site presence.
