Adult Education College & Career Navigator (CCN) (Full-Time)

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited college or university. At least one year of successful experience in career counseling, employment placement, college placement, or student services. Other Candidates may be considered based on prior experience. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), as well as Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Classroom, and Meet). Must be GCDF Certified or able to participate in GCDF training in Summer 2025.

Duties, Responsibilities, and Qualifications:

Conduct orientation for new adult education students; Submit activity data report to the LACES Intake Specialist monthly; Create and maintain individual student files; Assist adult education students with support services needs while receiving adult education services by identifying and connecting students to services and activities to ensure a successful transition into and completion of postsecondary education/training and/or employment; Research information and community services to best assist adult education students; Provide individual and group counseling to students, offering guidance on available community resources, educational opportunities, postsecondary pathways, and employment options; Deliver classroom lessons and coordinate guest speakers to provide students with relevant career information and essential workplace readiness skills; Aid the Adult Education Director and/or staff in the development and implementation of career pathways; Assist students in career planning, goal-setting, and developing career/college plans; Proactively engage with students to understand their career interests and goals, and provide ongoing support and guidance to help them develop and achieve their plans; Track student progress through identified pathway benchmarks and follow up with students to reconfirm goals or assist with alternate pathways according to changing student needs and interests; Identify and collaborate with other available education, training, and social service resources in the community, such as by establishing strong links with secondary schools, postsecondary educational institutions, institutions of higher education, local workforce investment boards, one-stop centers, job training programs, social service agencies, business, industry, labor organizations, community-based organizations, nonprofit organizations, and intermediaries, for overall program success and individual student success; Coordinate with other College and Career Navigators across regions to ensure consistency in support services and student outcomes; Participate on the Business Service Teams of each local area to build employer engagement and expand job placement opportunities; Participate on the Youth Council with the local workforce area to support youth-focused initiatives and program alignment; Coordinate with local employers to build partnerships, create opportunities for student engagement, and support career exploration and job placement efforts; Maintain Hot Jobs Boards both digitally and in print at multiple site locations to keep students informed of current employment opportunities; Participate in ongoing training sessions, staff meetings, and professional development as required; Must be energetic, self-motivated, and possess excellent communication and personal skills with students; Performs other duties as assigned. Other Requirements Satisfactory SLED criminal history check. Receipt of a satisfactory test for tuberculosis.

Working Conditions:

Conducts duties in a classroom environment with some exposure to environmental conditions. Requires ability to work under a degree of stress related to duties that require constant attention and working with students. Physical demands are restricted to classroom work requiring lifting/moving of items weighing up to 25 lbs. Occasional local travel and/or overnight travel may be required. Job requires the operation of standard office equipment.
