POSITION OVERVIEW
The ASAP Academic Advisor will play a key role in supporting adult learners by providing academic advising services and promoting student success. This position involves leadership, coordination, and direct engagement with adult learners, faculty and other academic support services to help ensure academic achievement and personal development for students.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Academic Advising Provide academic advising and support to adult learners, helping them navigate their educational path, select courses, and understand graduation requirements. Assist students in developing academic and career goals in conjunction with the Director of Social Mobility and Student Outcomes. Offer guidance for degree completion, and ensure students understand policies and procedures as well as graduation requirements.
Student Support:
Develop and maintain relationships with adult learners, providing personal and academic guidance throughout their educational journey. Create and maintain an ASAP dashboard, facilitate workshops, orientations, life balance challenges, and enhance study skills taught in First Year Seminar and Second Year Seminar. Serve as a point of contact for adult learners seeking assistance, offering individualized support and referral to other service areas as needed. Assessment and Reporting Conduct assessments of advising practices, program outcomes, and student satisfaction, using data to make improvements. Prepare reports for internal and external stakeholders on program outcomes, academic advising activities and student success metrics. Contribute to institutional efforts to improve retention, graduation rates, and the overall student experience.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree required. Minimum of 3 years’ experience in academic advising, student services or adult education.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
Excellent written and oral communication skills. The ability to manage multiple tasks and projects effectively. Ability to work collaboratively with faculty and staff. Proficient in using a CRM system, along with relevant academic software and systems. Demonstrated commitment to creating and welcoming an inclusive environment for all students.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office environment, which requires business professional attire. While performing the above job duties, the employee may be required to sit or stand for long periods of time. The employee, frequently, is required to walk, stand, reach and lift (20) pounds. The employee is required to travel within the area, as well as overnight travel on occasion, which may require air travel.
