JOB DESCRIPTION
Provide lectures and lab-based instruction in agricultural sciences, including animal production, plant production, forages, soils, animal nutrition, animal reproduction, livestock exhibition, and livestock judging. Instructional preparation will include setting up and maintaining the classroom and laboratory space (e.g., preparing lab materials, setting up equipment, cleaning glassware, ordering supplies, preparing instructional handouts and laboratory protocols, etc.). Be a competent scholar in the area of instruction by continually improving relevant skills and knowledge, including following college professional development requirements. Must be willing to teach day, evening, and summer courses (with possible online/hybrid opportunities) using lecture, lab, hands-on demonstration, and other methods of instructional delivery, including meeting with students during posted office hours. Prepare reports, charts, and other student performance and attendance records following college requirements. Serve as an academic advisor in accordance with Jones College advisement policies. Participate in outreach and other recruitment activities to sustain and increase the number of students pursuing agriculture-related careers. Be an active participant in campus activities that enrich the collegiate atmosphere.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree related to animal production with a minimum of five years of teaching experience.
Beef cattle management experience
Livestock show and judging experience
PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s degree related to animal production with a minimum of eight years of teaching experience.
