Monthly Job Description Tennessee Statee University Office of Extension invites applications for the position of Extension Agent.
The successful candidate will be a member of TSU and Lone Oaks Farm. This position is 100% 4-H Youth Development. This position will be responsible for planning, implementing, evaluating, and reporting Extension youth development educational programs as needed at Lone Oaks. In addition, this position includes planning, executing, and evaluating programs, events, and activities through educational workshops, camps, conferences, and special interest classes. The successful candidate will develop and maintain a STEM outdoor learning laboratory in the context of horticulture, plant sciences, agronomy, and agricultural technology. Program delivery methods will involve volunteer recruitment, phone calls, workshops, newsletters, media, etc. The Extension Agent will develop and maintain good public relations with educational officials, collaborative agencies, program sponsors and elected and appointed officials. This position will plan, execute, and evaluate the youth development programs based on county, regional, state and Federal Programs and clientele needs. He/She will perform other related duties as required by Lone Oaks and TSU State Extension Administrators. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree required in Agriculture, Wildlife, Forestry, Education, or other closely related discipline. Knowledge and experience with STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) preferred. Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of Extension program planning, implementation and evaluation. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with teams. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in written form. Ability to document and market program impacts. Ability to provide leadership and demonstrate self-reliance in a collaborative environment. Ability to work a flexible schedule which will include some nights, weekends, and overnight travel. Access to a personal vehicle and the ability to obtain/maintain a valid Tennessee driver’s license. The applicant should also possess the following qualifications: comprehensive knowledge and understanding of program planning, implementation and evaluation; strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with teams; ability to communicate effectively verbally and in written form using print media, radio, and television; ability to document and market program impacts and provide leadership and demonstrate self-reliance in a collaborative environment; ability to work with UT and TSU Extension programming personnel.
