Job Description

Pre-College Architecture is an intensive and immersive summer program at Carnegie Mellon University that engages high school students in the creative energy and speculative culture of the college-level experience in studying the discipline of architecture. The Pre-College Architecture and Outreach programs introduce design practice, creative problem solving, and critical thinking to young designers through a complex matrix of programming, pushing curiosity and providing a strong basis for architectural education. As adjunct instructor for this in-person program, you will be required to work on one of the following:

  • Lead Media Instruction courses for up to 8 hours per week for 5 weeks + Preparation and Post Production
  • Lead of Assist with Media Instruction for up to 5 hours per week for 5 week + Preparation and Post Production
  • Deliver Outreach programs for K-12 student participants for 10-12 hours per week for 10 weeks
  • Deliver Bio-matter research content to student participants to 30 hours per week for 15 weeks Programs run on varied schedules from June 26-August 10.

Biomatter position through September 2025. The positions begin as early as 6/26/25. Recent graduates with prior experience in these areas are preferred. Our student body totals over 400 undergraduate and graduate students, and is situated within the College of Fine Arts, alongside the Schools of Art, Design, Drama and Music. This position requires a Professional degree in architecture, landscape architecture, or urban design (BArch, MArch, BLA, MLA, MUD) or a Masters degree in a related field. A background in education or a related field is helpful. Prior academic experience in teaching at the secondary or post-secondary level is preferred.
