Length Of Employment:
Ongoing FWS position beginning May 2025 Job Duties This position requires working directly with the public in person and sitting at a reception desk.
Answering general directional and building policy questions at the reference and circulation desk in-person and by telephone.
Checking and responding to all Supervisor emails and Teams messages in a timely manner.
Recording library statistics.
Help maintain an organized reception area and communicate any problems or needs to library staff.
Referring in-depth or complex questions to library staff.
Checking library materials in and out, shelving, and shifting.
Assisting with other general library duties and/or projects as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
Hours:
10-15 hours during library hours of operation. SUMMER – May through mid-
August:
Mon-Thurs:
8am-6pm,
Fridays:
8am-5pm (on-site only); FALL and SPRING –
Mon-Thurs:
8am-7pm,
Fridays:
8am-5pm,
Sundays:
2-10pm (on-site only).
EXPECTED SALARY
$13.50 per hour
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Federal Work Study Program
REQUIRED – NO EXCEPTIONS!
Currently enrolled UF Student
Must be dependable and pay attention to detail
Ability to interact and communicate effectively with a diverse patronage and library staff
Ability to manage time and commitments including scheduled work hours
Ability to follow detailed instructions
Ability to work independently once trained
Computer skills
Commitment to a welcoming and safe environment for all patrons
PREFERRED
Experience working with the public
Experience working with diverse communities
Previous experience in any library setting
Reading knowledge of languages other than English
Current Freshmen, Sophomore, or Junior.
