Position Focus:

The Lower School Art Teacher is responsible for developing and implementing an engaging art curriculum for students in grades K-6. This role involves creating lesson plans, instructing students in various art techniques, and fostering a creative and supportive classroom environment .

Follow the Matthew 18 principle in dealing with students, parents, staff and administration. Lead others to a realization of their worth in Christ and cultivate their growth in Christ-like character. Christ Position Parameters:

Develop and implement lesson plans with a Biblical Worldview, that align with school standards and curriculum. Teach students about art history, techniques, and various media (e.g., drawing, painting, sculpture). Assess student progress through various formative and summative tools, while providing encouragement and constructive feedback. Organize and maintain art materials and supplies. Collaborate with other teachers to integrate art with other subjects. Prepare students for art contests and exhibits. Organize and oversee art projects, exhibitions, and school events. Communicate with parents about student progress and classroom activities. Stay updated with current art education trends and best practices. Integrate Biblical truths and a Christian worldview into art lessons, emphasizing how God is the ultimate Creator. Maintain a positive, orderly, and spiritually nurturing classroom environment. Participate in staff devotions, faculty meetings, school chapels, and other events that support the school’s mission.

Proficiency in various art techniques and media. Ability to adapt lessons to meet the needs of diverse learners. Strong organizational skills. Creativity and enthusiasm for teaching. Stay current with emerging educational technologies and digital resources relevant to elementary education.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in art education or a related field. State teaching certification. Experience teaching art to elementary students. Strong classroom management skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to inspire and motivate students. Ability to articulate and integrate a Biblical worldview in all aspects of teaching. A growing and maturing relationship with Jesus Christ; active membership in a Bible-believing church.
