- Not Eligible for Overtime Compensation First Review Date July 01, 2025 Position Overview This Faculty member teaches Animation and Game Art and Development courses and strives for excellence as a dynamic educator, networking professional and practitioner scholar who is willing to assume a leadership role in consolidating the image and reputation of the Magic Program as a center of entrepreneur education.
This is a full-time Faculty (FAC) position for which an annual contract reflecting the base salary within the fiscal year (July 1st to June 30th) will be issued after ratification by Miami Dade College’s District Board of Trustees. What you will be doing Teaches lecture and laboratory sections involving a full load of courses on entrepreneurship at the undergraduate level Teaches guidance of real-life student projects in action settings Evaluates students and performs career and academic advising Practices interest in pedagogical innovation and reaches large audiences through development of online courses such as MOOCs Plans and organizes instructional materials to meet course objectives Participates in curriculum development and revision that stress innovation and multi-cultural emphasis Participates in departmental recruiting and retention activities Participates in a variety of departmental, campus and college-wide programs, activities and committees Prepares and submits student information to Department Chairperson Serves as a resource person for adjunct faculty Teaches day, evening and weekend classes as needed Performs other duties as assigned What you need to succeed Master’s degree in Game Design, Information Technology, Video Game Programming or related field (e.g., Interactive Design and Game Development, Visual Design for Games, Computer Animation); or Master’s degree and 18 graduate semester hours in Game Design, Information Technology, Video Game Programming or related field (e.g., Interactive Design and Game Development, Visual Design for Games, Computer Animation). All educational degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution Ability to function well in a technological environment and willing to use technological tools in instruction Possess excellent communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with students with a wide range of skills Possess excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well with students, faculty, staff and the community Demonstrated effective use of active learning techniques Ability to work in a multi-ethnic/multi-cultural environment Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evening and weekend assignments Doctoral stipend is awarded in addition to the base salary, as applicable Start date for this Faculty position is scheduled on or before start of Fall Semester 2024 Preferences Preference will be given to applicants familiar with and use of collaborative learning techniques and student-centered methods of instruction in a college setting. Experience in entrepreneurial activity and development is especially valued. A Ph.D. or equivalent is deemed desirable but not essential. Preference will be given to applicants with College level teaching experience Previous curriculum development and recruitment experience a plus Additional Requirements The final candidate is to successfully complete a background screening and reference check process.
