Faculty, Music (Voice / Opera) Miami Dade College – 4.2 Miami, FL Job Details Part-time | Full-time $53,274 – $65,370 a year 15 hours ago Qualifications Music Doctoral degree Master’s degree High school diploma or GED Bachelor’s degree Computer skills Senior level OPERA Communication skills Teaching University Full Job Description This faculty teaches music courses in a professionally-focused curriculum for NWSA Bachelor of Music college and high school degree programs and provides specialized support in these programs to best meet the needs of the department. This is a full-time Faculty (FAC) position for which an annual contract reflecting the base salary within the fiscal year (July 1st to June 30th) will be issued after ratification by Miami Dade College’s District Board of Trustees. Duties & Responsibilities Teaches music courses for both NWSA college and high school programs to include leading the BM Voice degree program, teaching applied voice lessons, opera theater ensemble, high school ensembles, diction, language courses for singers, song literature, vocal pedagogy, as well as coordinate, direct and produce department concerts, recitals and performances including but not limited to opera scenes and full-length opera productions, while teaching other related areas such as theory, history, ear-training, music appreciation, and dual enrollment courses or others, as appropriate to candidate’s background and training and the needs of the department. Oversees, facilitates, participates in, adjudicates and coaches all assigned department and school wide performances, faculty recitals, junior and senior recitals, recital hearings, weekly forums, all auditions and juries, department concerts, community events and other performance presentations, master classes, sectionals, and other related activities for the Bachelor of Music voice majors and high school students to support their progress through the degree program on an ongoing basis. Attends departmental concert, recitals, performances Attends and participates in local, state, and other national conferences, to promote NWSA and recruit students to the NWSA college and high school programs on an ongoing basis Participates in all auditions, juries, conferences and other related activities Participates in and/or organizes student recitals and concerts, semester juries, exams, mock auditions, weekly forums, master classes, and sectionals Recommends distinguished visiting artists and piano accompanists and vocal coaches for consideration to the dean of music on an ongoing basis Participates in a variety of departmental, campus and college-wide programs, activities and committees, including faculty meetings Participates in curriculum development and revision for music courses Performs other duties as assigned Minimum Requirements Master’s Degree in Music or a Master’s Degree and 18 graduate semester hours in Music All educational degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching or performance Demonstrated effectiveness in voice and opera, with a distinguished record of performance and teaching excellence Teaching experience in a college or university program or professional equivalent Familiarity with and use of collaborative learning techniques and student-centered methods of instruction Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills Ability to work a flexible schedule to accommodate juries, advisement, recruitment, performances and other departmental and school activities Demonstrate ability to interact effectively in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with students, faculty and staff Qualified applicant must demonstrate positive human relations and communications skills Applicant must be versed with computer skills Doctorate stipend is awarded in addition to higher base salary, if degree awarded prior to start date Start date for this Faculty position is anticipated to begin on or before the start of the 2025 Fall Semester Preferences DMA (Doctor of Musical Arts) preferred Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching or performance Additional Requirements The final candidate is to successfully complete a background screening and reference check process.
