Description Job Summary The Chair of Graduate & Worship Studies for the Winters School of Music (WSM) is responsible for management and supervision of all components of the school’s graduate programs as well as all levels of the school’s worship studies programs in partnership with the Dean of the WSM. This includes the recruitment and enrollment of graduate and worship students, graduate and worship faculty assignments, graduate and worship program offerings, compliance with institutional and program accreditation, and assessment program. ADMINISTRATION
•This position is governed by the policies in the Administrative Handbook.
SUPERVISION
•This position gives direct supervision to graduate and worship studies faculty and may supervise other program directors and/or administrative support staff specific to graduate or worship studies.
MISSION•Assist the WSM and the university in the implementation of its Mission and achievement of its strategic plans as they relate to graduate and worship studies.
ACCREDITATION
•Assist the Dean, Associate Dean, and the university in maintaining compliance with SACSCOC standards and NASM program accreditation specifically related to graduate music programs.
WEBSITE & SOCIAL MEDIA
•Assist the Dean and Associate Dean in keeping the WSM web pages and social media current and active, in collaboration with the WSM Marketing/Events Coordinator.
EVALUATIONS
•Oversee personnel evaluations related to graduate and worship studies instruction and evaluate graduate faculty and staff as assigned by the Dean.
ACADEMIC LEADERSHIP
•Represent graduate studies within the WSM and potentially on university-wide graduate councils, providing academic leadership for graduate music programs.
ADVISEMENT
•Oversee the advisement program for current and prospective graduate students, in collaboration with graduate faculty. Oversee the advisement program in coordination with other worship faculty for all levels of the worship studies programs.
UNIVERSITY EVENTS
•Attend scheduled university events where participation related to worship studies is required.
STUDENT RECRUITMENT
•Assist the Dean and relevant personnel in recruiting graduate and worship studies students, potentially including participation in recruitment events and communication strategies.
ANNUAL EVALUATION
•Supervise the annual evaluation of the effectiveness of graduate and worship studies programs and curricula and recommend changes when needed, in collaboration with relevant faculty.
FACULTY MEMBER
•Carry out the responsibilities of a faculty member in the WSM as described in the Faculty Handbook, teaching a load appropriate for the position, as determined by the Dean.
COMMITTEE SERVICE
•Serve on university committees as appointed to do so, either as member or chair, particularly those related to graduate studies.
ADMISSIONS
(GRADUATE)•Assist the Dean in monitoring all admissions to graduate WSM programs in terms of meeting school requirements and assigning graduate advisors.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
•Perform any other responsibilities related to graduate studies as requested by the Dean of the WSM and/or the VPAA.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
•This position reports to the Dean of the Winters School of Music.
Qualifications Required Qualifications Doctorate in an appropriate field.
At least 3 years’ experience teaching at the post-secondary level.
Knowledge of assessment programs.
Knowledge of accreditation requirements and programs. Preferred Qualifications Experience with online instructional programs
At least 3 years’ administrative experience in post-secondary education. Physical Demands Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting, and to use standard office equipment including a computer
Must have vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone
Must have the ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
Must have strength and agility to move files, paper boxes, and minor office equipment
Must have ability to lift and carry 25 pounds
