Description The Hofstra University Department of Music invites applications for a leave replacement adjunct faculty member in orchestral conducting. The successful candidate’s primary responsibility will be to conduct the Symphony Orchestra and Chamber Orchestra in weekly rehearsals (Wednesday afternoons/evenings) during the Fall 2025 semester, culminating in a performance in December 2025. Additional opportunities may include teaching, conducting classes, and coaching chamber music. Qualifications Applicants are expected to have:
Master’s degree in orchestral conducting, music education, or related field.
Significant experience conducting orchestras, ideally in a college setting.
Demonstration of a commitment to undergraduate mentorship and teaching. Preferred Quals Summary Special Instructions Applications should be submitted electronically and include the following: A letter of application with documented professional experience. Current curriculum vitae. Names and contact information, including email address, of three professional references.
Conducting a video of 15 to 25 minutes, including at least 10 minutes of rehearsal footage. Candidates are encouraged to include a variety of styles and repertoire. Videos should be submitted as YouTube links, with date, venue, ensemble, and repertoire clearly noted. Deadline Open until filled
