Job Description:
Roger Williams University is seeking Adjunct Professors to teach in its Theatre Program. Teaching assignments include classes in acting, design, stagecraft, and stage management. Opportunities to teach literature classes and to direct are also possible. The Theatre Program is part of RWU’s Performing and Creative Arts Department and is part of the University’s School of Humanities, Arts, and Education. Professors who teach within the Theatre Program most often teach a mixture of majors, minors, and general education students who range from beginning, to intermediate, to advanced levels. Professors who enjoy engaging with liberal arts students of varying backgrounds, levels, and reasons for moving are highly sought. Many of our students are double majors who seek a life-long relationship with theatre, whether it be a professional track or otherwise; because of this, one’s ability to make connections to other disciplines and contextual lenses is highly valued – whether they be other art forms, the sciences, technology, and/or cultural studies. RWU’s Theatre Program values diversity, equity, inclusion, access, and freedom of expression in all forms. It has a reputation for being one of the most dynamic programs on the RWU campus and is known for attracting students from several disciplines.
Requirements:
Terminal Degree, and/or Master’s Degree, or equivalent professional experience.
Teaching experience in higher education preferred.
Demonstrated commitment to student success and collegial collaboration. At the University’s discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be accepted where the candidate can demonstrate, to the satisfaction of the University, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
