Academic Year Job Summary:
BTWA is seeking a passionate and creative Elementary School Art Teacher to join our team and inspire young learners through visual arts education. The ideal candidate will foster a supportive and engaging classroom environment that encourages students to explore a variety of artistic techniques, media, and cultural perspectives. This role involves designing age-appropriate lessons, assessing student progress, and contributing to the broader school community through events and exhibitions.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver dynamic art lessons aligned with state and school curriculum standards. Introduce students to various art forms, including drawing, painting, sculpture, and mixed media. Promote creative expression and critical thinking through individual and group projects. Maintain a safe, organized, and inclusive classroom environment. Assess student work, provide constructive feedback, and track progress. Collaborate with classroom teachers and school staff to integrate art with other subjects where appropriate. Organize student art displays and participate in school-wide events and exhibitions. Uphold school policies and participate in professional development activities.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, or a related field. Valid Connecticut teaching certification for elementary art education. Previous experience teaching art to young children preferred. Strong classroom management and communication skills. Ability to inspire creativity and nurture artistic growth in students.
