Job Brief:

Westport Day School is currently looking to add a skillful and enthusiastic Art teacher to their teaching team. The hours of this position are 7:45-3:00 Monday- Friday. This teacher would need to be comfortable teaching art classes in a therapeutic nature.

Responsibilities:

Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that adhere to the curriculum guidelines Utilize effective classroom management techniques to ensure a productive learning environment Assess student progress and provide feedback on their performance Collaborate with other teachers and staff to enhance the overall educational experience Provide instruction and support to students with emotional disabilities Collaborate with other educators, parents, and support staff to create a supportive learning environment Adapt instructional materials and strategies to meet the unique needs of students Create and maintain a safe and inclusive classroom environment

Experience/Skills:

Valid Connecticut teaching certification Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with students, parents, and colleagues Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Strong classroom management skills to create a structured learning environment Proficient in lesson planning and curriculum development Willingness to be collaborative and flexible Experience working with students with behavioral health needs or special needs preferred Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of diverse learners Patience, empathy, and a passion for working with children Passion for education and a desire to inspire students to excel This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Art teacher who is passionate about education and has a strong background in teaching.
