Position Summary:
The K-8 Art Teacher will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging, standards-based visual arts instruction to students in grades Kindergarten through 8th grade. The teacher will cultivate a classroom environment that supports exploration, creativity, and self-expression while integrating cross-curricular connections to enhance student learning.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement art curriculum aligned with state and national visual arts standards. Deliver engaging and age-appropriate art lessons to K-8 students. Teach a variety of techniques in drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, mixed media, and digital art (if applicable). Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of learners. Create and maintain a positive, respectful, and student-centered classroom environment. Organize and display student artwork throughout the school and in community showcases. Collaborate with classroom teachers, administrators, and other specials teachers to support cross-disciplinary projects. Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and behavior. Participate in school events, parent conferences, professional development, and staff meetings.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, or a related field (Master’s Degree preferred). Valid state teaching certification in Art Education (K-12 or appropriate levels). Prior experience teaching elementary and/or middle school students is strongly preferred. Strong classroom management skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. A passion for teaching and a commitment to student success. Willingness to contribute to the broader school community.
