Full Job Description Job Summary:
iMater Middle/High is seeking a passionate and creative Secondary Art Teacher to inspire and engage students in grades 7 through 12. The ideal candidate fosters artistic expression, develops critical and creative thinking skills, and builds an appreciation for visual arts. The teacher will design and deliver a dynamic curriculum in alignment with state standards and school-wide goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging art lessons that cover a wide range of techniques, media, and historical perspectives for grades 7-12 Develop and implement a standards-based curriculum that caters to varying skill levels and learning styles. Encourage students to express themselves creatively while developing technical skills in drawing, painting, sculpture, digital media, and other art forms. Assess student progress, provide constructive feedback, and maintain accurate records of grades and attendance. Organize and oversee student art exhibitions, school displays, and participation in local or national art competitions. Maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment. Collaborate with other teachers, staff, and the broader school community. Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and upcoming projects. Participate in professional development and school events as required.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Art Education, Fine Arts, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred). Valid Florida state teaching certification in Art (Grades K – 12). Demonstrated proficiency in a variety of artistic media and techniques. Previous teaching experience at the secondary level preferred. Strong classroom management and organizational skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Commitment to fostering a positive and creative learning environment.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to supervise students in a classroom and occasional art studio settings. Lifting and moving art supplies and student projects as required.
