Description:
Chastain Arts Center is seeking artists interested in teaching summer camp art classes in the 2025 KickstART Summer Camp for ages 5-12 and 13-17. The Summer Camp is scheduled from June 9th – August 1st, Monday-Friday 9A – 3P. There is no camp the week of Independence Day. Qualified candidates will join a team of highly passionate and well-motivated teaching artists.
Qualifications:
Ideal candidates must have experience teaching art to children and have knowledge of art history, creating lesson plans, and maintaining a classroom. Applicants should display interpersonal skills, be enthusiastic and self-motivated. Duties include, but are not limited to the following: Creating and instructing programing that focuses on the development of artistic skills within the theme for each week of Art Camp Creating age-appropriate instruction for the optimum development of a child Basic Childcare – monitoring your classroom and trips throughout the Arts Center Maintenance of a safe and orderly environment Maintain a clean, organized creative space Assessment of techniques appropriate to the varied characteristics and developmental needs of students Provision of continuous feedback to students, community, and staff Usage of various ongoing assessments to monitor the effectiveness of instruction Professional engagement in development activities consistent with the goals and objectives of the program Completion and submission of forms and required reports in a timely manner Maintenance of art supply inventory for the children’s program Knowledge of Art History, Art Construction and Historical and Contemporary Artists Dependable instructor with a friendly disposition Ideal candidate will be available for all 8 weeks of camp Mandatory training and orientation, prior to the 1st day of camp, will be required.
