5K a year 8 hours ago Qualifications Teaching Certification Mid-level Communication skills Armenian Full Job Description St. Stephens Armenian Elementary School is seeking a part-time experienced and certified elementary Art teacher (K-5).The St. Stephens Armenian Elementary School located in Watertown, Mass, is a child-centered American-Armenian Institution committed to academic excellence. The school is accredited by the Association of Independent Schools in New England (AISNE).

Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrate expertise and knowledge in a range of art techniques as well as the elements and principles of art and design
  • Utilize research-based pedagogical strategies to teach and engage diverse groups of students in grades K-5 through the arts
  • Plan and facilitate art lessons for teaching all learners that are aligned with Massachusetts State Visual Art Frameworks
  • Providing accommodations and support for students with special needs
  • Establishing and communicating clear objectives to the students for all lessons, units and projects
  • Use all available technology and virtual curricula provided by the district to create engaging lessons and supports that are linked with 21st Century skills and remote accessibility
  • Upholding a code of conduct for the classroom which is consistent with established school policies and develops rules of classroom behavior which are enforced in a fair and just manner
  • Employ a strong growth mindset and participate in professional development that is relevant to the challenges of urban education in order to close opportunity gaps
  • Encourage student creativity and engage students through content and lessons relevant to their lives and interests
  • Maintain great communication skills and the ability to foster positive professional relationships with students, families and teachers
  • Create and manage ongoing student in-person and virtual art exhibitsbuilding strong relationships with students in order to motivate them to be their best selves both academically and personally
  • Being open and prepared to think deeply about instructional strategies and collaborate with colleagues in order to meet the needs of every student
  • Attending established traditional school sponsored activities (e.g., Open House, Christmas Concert, and Graduation Ceremony)
  • Participating in professional development and mentorship opportunities with specialists and colleagues
  • Ensuring the safety and well-being of students.

Qualifications

  • Valid Massachusetts teacher certification in Visual Art, PK-8
  • Knowledge of standards-based instruction
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, teachers, parents, and administrators
  • Demonstrate a commitment to excellence, equity, and high expectations for all students with an emphasis on building strengths that students bring to the teaching/learning process
