We are seeking a dedicated, student-centered, and empathetic Art Teacher to join our strong Visual and Performing Arts team. The ideal candidate will be ready to help the students we are privileged to serve achieve great things.
As a

Classroom Teacher, You Will:

Plan instruction using approved curriculum, high-impact instructional strategies, subject matter expertise, and up-to-date data to meet the needs of all students
Establish expectations, routines, and procedures to provide a respectful, safe, positive, student-centered environment that maximizes opportunities for student learning
Engage students in learning by using a variety of instructional strategies to meet individual learning goals and needs
Set ambitious goals; gather, analyze, and use relevant data to measure student progress, guide instructional planning and delivery, and provide timely feedback to students, parents, and stakeholders
Collaborate with colleagues to contribute to overall district effectiveness
Engage in professional reflection and growth that results in improved instructional practice and student learning
Serve as a leader in our commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at the district, school, classroom, and curriculum levels
View leadership, professionalism, and effective communication as vital components of classroom teaching
Key Responsibilities of the

Position:

Develop and deliver engaging, standards-based lessons in digital design, ceramics, and traditional art media
Foster a classroom environment that encourages artistic exploration, collaboration, and respect for diverse perspectives
Integrate technology meaningfully into instruction, utilizing industry-standard software such as Adobe Creative Suite
Manage and maintain a safe and organized ceramics studio, including kiln operation, clay preparation, and materials inventory
Guide students through the creative process, from conceptual development to final presentation and critique
Exhibit student work both within the school and in community venues to promote arts advocacy and student achievement
Collaborate with colleagues in interdisciplinary projects and school-wide events, such as art shows and cultural festivals
Provide constructive feedback to students and maintain open communication with parents and guardians regarding progress
Job Requirements
At least 2 years of relevant experience is preferred with demonstrated expertise in digital design, ceramics, and traditional media such as drawing, painting, and printmaking
Bachelor’s degree required
Citizenship, residency, or work visa required
Appropriate Maine DOE certification (or ability to be certified)
Preferred
Master’s Degree

Terms of Employment
Salary and work year to be established by the Board and reflected in the contract.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board of School Directors’ policy on Evaluation of Certified Staff Members (GCOA).
This position will remain open until a qualified candidate is secured.
