Job Description

Art TEACHER

JOB GOAL

To plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program in an elementary orsecondary learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academicpotential.

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Such duties and responsibilities as may be assigned, including, but are not limited to:1. Provides quality work that engages students in learning2. Possesses knowledge of subject matter content3. Recognizes and responds appropriately to individual differences in students4. Differentiates instruction for a variety of developmental stages and ability levels5. Implements adopted curriculum subject matter standards and assessment instruments to meetschool and district goals6. Plans lessons in a logical sequence7. Demonstrates knowledge of the subjects to be taught and the relationship to other subjects8. Reflects on teaching and devising ways of improving performance on an ongoing basis9. Collaborates with other educators to create the most complete educational environmentpossible for students10. Uses a variety of assessment techniques and/or models to evaluate studentperformance11. Uses formative assessment to improve instruction12. Assumes responsibility for all students to ensure adequate yearly progress as determined by local,state, and federal standards13. Participates in the referral-to-placement process for students being referred for Child Study14. Utilizes technology in the teaching and learning process15. Provides a physical environment that is safe, orderly, hazard-free, and conducive to learning16. Implements approved disciplinary measures to allow for effective instruction and classroommanagement17. Relates to parents and other community members, individual and corporate, in a positive andhelpful fashion18. Writes, speaks, and presents instruction in a clear, concise, and well-planned manner19. participates in self-initiated and school/district-initiated professional growth in order to maintainlicensure and support school improvement efforts20. Adheres to policies and procedures established by district, state, and federal guidelines21. Submits required reports efficiently, promptly, and accurately22. Accepts responsibility for, and inventories classroom materials, textbooks, and equipment23. Accepts the responsibilities of co-curricular and extra-curricular duties as assigned byadministration24. Participates in departmental/grade-level teams, school-level teams, and district-levelcommittees as requested25. Attends school-related functions (e.g. PTA) outside the instructional day26. Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance27. Supports the Hattiesburg Public School District Mission, Vision, and Strategic Plan28. Perform other duties assigned by supervisor
