SUMMARY
Open until filled-
Responsible for the preparation, delivery, and evaluation of courses including preparing lectures and teaching students in classroom and lab environments, evaluating and grading student tests and assignments, fostering student success and completion, making recommendations for updating course design and/or syllabi as needed, and following established instructional procedures and protocols. Position requires the teaching of both day and evening classes at multiple instruction sites and through multiple modes as required.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Conduct assigned classes of instruction in the best manner to achieve student learning; present information, ideas, and skills in ways that are appropriate to a variety of learning styles and that show sensitivity to a diverse student population. Provide students with the approved course syllabus and relate instruction and evaluation to that syllabus. Treat students with tact and respect, maintain collegial relationships, and work productively as a member of a team. Evaluate achievement with timely interim and final performance evaluations and assign grades that reflect College policy and the achievement of course objectives as stated in the syllabus. Provide academic advising, maintain regular office hours, and maintain overall accessibility to students, which necessitates flexibility in arranging out-of-class consultations to accommodate student needs. Maintain instructional quality and effectiveness through constant and timely revisions of programs, courses, and course syllabi within assigned content area(s). Maintain class records and submit required reports in a timely manner. Develop new courses and select and recommend appropriate instructional materials and textbooks. Serve on College committees. Attend and otherwise participate in scheduled Department, Division, and College meetings and participate in graduation. Maintain currency in content areas through appropriate professional development. Participate in activities that enhance the College’s service to students and to the community.

MINIMUM EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS

Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution with at least 18 graduate hours in art or art-related courses required.
M.F.A.in Sculpture, Studio Art from a regionally accredited institution preferred.
Must meet minimum SACS criteria and the minimum criteria of other pertinent accrediting, licensing, and credentialing agencies in the area of teaching assignment.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

Professional experience in visual arts and art history (vita and portfolio) required.
Ability to teach 3D Foundation Courses
Ability to teach beginner and advanced sculptural techniques (e.g. mold making, plaster, wood fabrication, welding, etc.)
Ability to teach introductory level digital fabrication techniques (e.g. laser cutter, 3D printing, etc.)
Ability to teach digital photography and video techniques (e.g. Lightroom, Photoshop, PremierePro)
Ability to teach art history, art appreciation, and a variety of studio art courses required.
Expertise in computer art/graphic design and/or three-dimensional design instruction preferred.
Prior college teaching experience required.
Community college teaching experience preferred.
Experience with online teaching platforms, such as Blackboard, is preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to lift, carry, push, and/or pull up to 25 pounds. Frequent standing, walking, stooping, and bending required.
Exposure to typical elements associated with an art classroom and lab environment.
Work environment can be stressful at times in dealing with a wide variety of challenges and deadlines.
