Ceramic Studio Lead Teacher About The Craft Salon:
The Craft Salon is a creative arts and crafts studio in Brooklyn, offering after-school classes, camps, and workshops. Our ceramics studio is a welcoming space where students explore clay through fun and engaging projects.
Position Overview:
We’re hiring a Kids Ceramics Lead Teacher to teach our after-school ceramics classes and clay camps for children ages 5-12. This role includes creating lesson plans, leading classes, managing the classroom, and coordinating with the Studio Manager and Ceramic Studio Assistant. This is a year-round, part-time position with expanded hours during school holidays and summer Clay Camp.
Schedule & Pay:
School Year:
Monday-Friday, 2:00-6:00
PM School Holidays:
Full-day camps (typically 9:00 AM-3:00 PM) Summer (June-August): Clay Camp, Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM-3:00
PM Pay:
$25-28/hour, depending on experience
Key Responsibilities:
Design and teach creative, age-appropriate ceramics lessons Lead after-school and camp classes with support from Studio Assistant Communicate with the Studio Manager to ensure materials and supplies are available and ready Delegate tasks to the Assistant and maintain a positive classroom environment Help with studio maintenance tasks such as clay reclaim process, studio organization, and cleanup
Qualifications:
2+ years experience teaching ceramics to children Strong classroom management and communication skills Familiarity with handbuilding and throwing techniques Understanding of ceramic studio safety procedures and protocols Organized, dependable, and team-oriented Must be 18+ and pass a background check
