Bensalem Township School District is anticipating to hire an art teacher at the Bensalem High School
Candidate must possess Art K-12 certification.
POSITION GOAL
To lead students toward the fulfillment of their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical and psychological growth and maturation.
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each

Possess appropriate level of education and experience to perform the essential duties relative to the position.
Ability to comprehend, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, governmental regulations, safety manuals, etc. and to generate routine reports and correspondence pertinent to the essential job duties.
Ability to communicate and to demonstrate interpersonal skills effectively in dealing with students, staff, parents, community members, and educational agencies as related to performance of the duties of the position.
Ability to perform mathematical operations and to apply mechanical skills and technical skills to accomplish the essential duties of the position.
Ability to interpret and to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Ability to perform routine tasks cooperatively and to adjust to interruptions, variables, or changes in standardized situations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Strives to implement, by instruction and action, the district’s philosophy of education.
2. Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
3. Develops and maintains an attractive, healthy and safe classroom and/or instructional environment conducive to effective learning enhanced through functional and attractive displays, interest centers and exhibits of student’s work.
4. Prepares for classes assigned, and can produce written evidence of such preparation upon request of the Building Principal or his or her designee.
5. Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curricular goals by:
- Establishing clear objectives at the appropriate level for the learner and which are congruent with established courses of study.
- Teaching to established objectives.
- Monitoring student learning and adjusting instruction accordingly.
- Utilizing correct principles of learning.
6. Assists in upholding and enforcing School Rules, Administrative Regulations and Board Policies.
7. Develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedures and maintains discipline in the classroom in a fair and equitable manner.
8. Employs a variety of instructional methodology providing for the most effective utilization of the instructional material, multimedia and technology resources provided by the district, and is consistent with district goals, the subject matter being taught, and the level of the student being instructed.
9. Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students and care for equipment, materials and facilities.
10. Evaluates student progress objectively emphasizing both formative and summative evaluation techniques as related to desired educational goals, objectives and outcomes, and keeps students informed of their progress in meeting defined expectations.
11. Maintains accurate and complete records as required by Law, Board Policy and Administrative Regulations.
12. Makes provisions to be available to students and parents for education-related conferences.
13. Attends and participates in in-service opportunities, professional development activities and staff meetings.
14. Establishes and maintains a professional relationship with others.
15. Keeps abreast of current trends and practices in education and in the area of certification.
16. Observes students, and in identifying those at risk, seeks appropriate support and involvement of resource personnel to enhance learning and student welfare.
17. Cooperates with school district procedures for selection, inventory, acquisition and use of instructional materials, supplies and equipment.
18. Maintains confidentiality in all aspects of the job, including matters involving staff, students and the public.
19. Ensures both written and oral communication with parents (guardians), as frequently as is appropriate, to keep them informed of the student’s progress.
20. Supports and/or participates in both extracurricular and interscholastic student activities and programs.
21. Monitors student behavior in non-instructional areas as assigned or required and intervenes to control and to modify disruptive behavior, following building procedures and
District policy.
22. Collaborates with other professional staff (guidance counselors, librarians, special subject staff, etc.) to carry out school wide instructional or related activities.
23. Performs other related duties as may be assigned or necessary for an efficient operation.
