THE POSITION

The Pennsylvania Department of Corrections, State Correctional Institution (SCI) Albion is actively seeking a devoted and passionate Painting Trade Instructor. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Painting Trade Instructor, you will provide instruction in all areas of painting to inmates. This includes on-the-job training and shop instruction of practices, methods, and procedures of the painting trade. You will be demonstrating and explaining the methods, procedures, materials, and tools used in hanging wall paper and vinyl wall coverings. You will also be providing instruction on the coating, inspecting, repairing, and maintaining surfaces of walls, ceilings, floors, roofs, fences, cabinets, furniture, metal work, fixtures, signs, and woodwork. You will be responsible for providing supervision, security and custody for inmates assigned to work detail. Take your painting experience to the next level with the Department of Corrections! Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday – Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

Telework:

 You will not have the option to telework in this position.

Salary:

 Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $51,868.00 (before taxes). This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

Four years of experience in mixing and applying paint, stain, and other finishes to a variety of building surfaces; or
Completion of an approved apprenticeship in the painting trade; or
An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes one year of journey level work in the painting trade.

Other Requirements:

Successful completion of Basic Training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
