Summer Art Class Instructor Needed This position is a Part-time, seasonal, hourly position. Signal Centers•HART Gallery is a nonprofit program that partners with individuals from varied underserved backgrounds including but not limited to: those experiencing homelessness, living with intellectual or physical disabilities, veterans, those experiencing abuse or neglect and others to create an artistic, studio-based collective where the creative capacity of any person can flourish. We do this by placing the work, needs, culture, and experience of artists with at the center of the community in a way that honors humanity, respects self-agency, and nurtures creative potential.

General Function:

Signal Centers’ HART Gallery is seeking a passionate and creative Art Class Instructor to lead meaningful and inclusive art classes for individuals of all ages and socioeconomic backgrounds. The instructor will develop and deliver sessions that promote creativity, self-expression, and personal growth. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in art instruction and a deep commitment to community engagement and empowerment through the arts. Upcoming Camp Dates June 9-13, 2025•Elementary School Age Group June 16-20, 2025•Middle School Age Group July 7-11, 2025•

High School Age Group Requirements & Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, Art Education, Art Therapy, or a related field (preferred) OR equivalent experience. Consideration will also be given to current college students majoring in art. Experience teaching art classes, preferably in a community, nonprofit, or therapeutic setting. Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage with diverse populations. Ability to adapt lessons to different skill levels and abilities. Must be reliable, punctual, and able to work independently Key Duties & Responsibilities Design and facilitate engaging, structured art classes for participants with varying skill levels and needs. Create a welcoming and inclusive space that supports artistic exploration and emotional expression. Adapt lesson plans and materials to ensure accessibility for all participants, including those with diverse abilities. Provide instruction in artistic techniques while fostering a nonjudgmental environment that encourages self-expression. Manage setup and cleanup of art materials before and after each session. Communicate regularly with HART Gallery leadership regarding class attendance, participant progress, and any emerging challenges or needs. Ensure programming reflects the gallery’s mission and aligns with its therapeutic and community-oriented approach.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

May be required to stand for extended periods. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times. Willingness to travel to offsite locations. Some evening hours / weekend hours may occur.
