Job Description

POSITION TITLE

ESL English Teacher, Siloam Springs High School, Grades 9-12

QUALIFICATIONS:

Arkansas

ELA 7-12

license and

ESOL K-12

Endorsement

REPORTS TO

Building Administrator(s) and District Supervisor(s)

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Work collaboratively with instructional and interdisciplinary teams.
Serve as a resource for classroom teachers.
Administer ESL placement and re-evaluation assessments.
Implement a variety of effective, research-based instructional strategies consistently to engage learners with the essential learning standards.
Monitor and assess student progress frequently, using both formative and summative assessments, and provide progress reports as requested.
Adjust instruction within the classroom (Tier I) to meet the needs of all learners, re-teaching when needed and extending learning for others.
Create a classroom environment that reflects respectful interactions between students and teachers, as well as student to student.
Communicate with Special Education, Gifted and Talented, counseling, health services, etc. to provide appropriate services for English learners.
Communicate identified accommodations for students to regular classroom teachers.
Maintain effective classroom behavior expectations and procedures.
Regularly communicate with parents/guardians regarding student progress.
Effectively implement district initiatives.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

Abide by state statutes, school board policies and regulations.
Attend meetings and perform duties as assigned by administrators and/or supervisors.
Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
Serve on committees as assigned.
Remain current on instructional practices in education.
