General Purpose:
ESOL Teacher is responsible for providing English instruction to limited English proficient students, including curriculum development, evaluation of students’ progress, and accurate maintenance of all students’ records. ESOL Teacher will work collaboratively with classroom area teachers to assist students in learning appropriate curriculum and skills.

N/A POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Except as specifically noted, the following functions are considered essential to this position:
- Plan daily instruction consistent with ESOL curriculum and objectives.
- Plan and implement a variety of activities to stimulate the processes of language learning and acquisition as well as content-area learning.
- Demonstrate interest and concern in students and parents through notes, and phone contact.
- Evaluate student progress through standardized and teacher designed tests, observation and supervision of daily assignments.
- Develop specific objectives for each student on an individualized basis.
- Coordinate lesson plans with general education staff to share in instructional responsibilities for ESOL students. Consult with general education teachers as appropriate, modeling instructional techniques appropriate for classrooms containing students and promoting multicultural material in the curriculum.
- Coordinate translation and interpretation services if/when necessary
- Maintain records of ESOL enrollment and English language proficiency levels for all ESOL students.
- Meet with ESOL colleagues, Building Administrators, Director of Student Services and/or other school staff for training, case review, and to ensure consistent teaching practices throughout the ESOL program.
- Develop an appropriate plan of professional development.
- Perform other duties and accepts responsibilities as assigned.
- Must comply with all SAU 70 District policy and building / department rules, procedures, practices and objectives.

Evaluation:
Evaluation will be based on ability and effectiveness in carrying out the responsibilities of the position as defined. Performance will be reviewed by Administrators in cooperation with the Superintendent and in accordance with School Board policy and the SAU 70 District Professional Educator Evaluation Plan.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 1-3 years related experience
Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of child and adolescent development
- Knowledge of ESOL assessments
- Knowledge of research based instructional interventions
- Ability to collaborate with professionals, parents, and community
- Awareness of applicable state Rules and Regulations for ESOL students
LICENSURE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- NH Certification English Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) or Statement of Eligibility
