QUALIFICATIONS

+ Candidate must possess a Masters’ Degree in Liberal Arts & Sciences with a Secondary in Spanish or Bachelor of Science degree with a Secondary in Spanish. + Candidate must possess a valid New York State teaching certificate in Spanish & 5-6 ext., Spanish Grades 1-6 Extension , or Spanish N-6/Pre K-6 Extension. + Candidate must possess fingerprint clearance from New York State Education Department.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

+ Candidate must have near native fluency in speaking and writing Spanish. + Candidates must be able to work with students in grades 1-8. + Candidates must have written references stressing success in working with students. + Candidates must show keen interest in and knowledge of the culture of the Spanish-speaking people. + Candidates must be familiar with the requirements of the New York State Regents Plan as it relates to the study of foreign languages. + Candidates must be interested in planning extracurricular student activities related to Spanish culture. + Assumes any other duties assigned by the Superintendent of Schools.
