Sojourner Truth School is seeking a passionate and experienced French Teacher to join our dedicated team. As a French Teacher, you will have the opportunity to foster a love for the French language and culture among our students in grades K-8. We are committed to providing an engaging and immersive learning environment that promotes language acquisition and cultural understanding. •Candidate must be NYS Bilingual Certified Responsibilities Develop and implement dynamic lesson plans that align with the curriculum and standards for teaching French language and culture. Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, including communicative approaches and language immersion techniques, to engage students in active learning. Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages students to take risks and develop their language skills. Incorporate authentic materials, such as literature, videos, and music, to expose students to the richness of French culture. Assess student progress regularly through formative and summative assessments, and provide timely and constructive feedback to students and parents. Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs and language proficiency levels of students. Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary projects and activities that integrate French language learning with other subject areas. Plan and coordinate cultural events, such as French festivals or celebrations, to promote cultural awareness and appreciation. Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in foreign language instruction and instructional technology. Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and performance in accordance with school policies. Communicate regularly with parents/guardians to provide updates on student progress and share resources for continued language learning at home.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in French Education or a related field. Valid teaching certification in French for grades K-8 in the state of [Insert State]. Demonstrated experience in teaching French language and culture, preferably in a K-8 setting. Native or near-native fluency in French, with a strong command of spoken and written French. Knowledge of current methods and best practices in teaching foreign languages. Experience integrating technology into language instruction is highly desirable. Strong interpersonal and communication skills to establish positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues. Enthusiasm for teaching and a commitment to fostering a love for French language and culture.
