TESOL Teacher (English Language Learners)

Full-Time Responsibilities :

Stratford Public Schools is seeking a passionate and qualified TESOL teacher to support English Language Learners (ELLs) in developing English language proficiency across speaking, listening, reading, and writing. The TESOL teacher will work collaboratively with classroom teachers to implement best practices in language acquisition while promoting academic achievement and cultural inclusion.

Key Responsibilities:

Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned English language development instruction for multilingual learners. Use a variety of instructional strategies to meet the diverse language and academic needs of ELLs. Conduct ongoing language proficiency assessments and adjust instruction accordingly. Collaborate with content area and classroom teachers to support integrated language instruction across subjects. Provide direct support to students in small groups or individual settings as needed. Maintain communication with families regarding student progress and available supports. Maintain accurate records of student data, instructional plans, and compliance documents. Participate in professional development and contribute to the development of inclusive practices for multilingual learners.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in TESOL, ESL, Education, or a related field (Master’s preferred) Valid

TESOL/ESOL

certification or endorsement as required by the State of Connecticut Experience working with English Language Learners in a school or educational setting Knowledge of second language acquisition theories, CELP standards, and culturally responsive pedagogy Strong interpersonal and communication skills Ability to differentiate instruction and provide academic scaffolds

Preferred Qualifications:

Bilingual or multilingual skills Experience in dual language or multilingual program settings Familiarity with co-teaching models and inclusive practices
