Full Job Description Newtown Public Schools Position Title:

Spanish Teacher•Grade 8

School Year Salary Range:

Per teacher contract

Responsibilities:

The teacher will provide Spanish instruction to middle school students as a member of a six person team and will perform other classroom teaching duty assignments consistent with the requirements of the position.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have: Current World Language (Spanish) Connecticut Certification; Interest in working in a high-performing district in a middle school environment and commitment to promoting a positive culture; Ability to work with others in attaining team objectives and accomplishing interdisciplinary objectives for students, including technology integration; Evidence of thorough understanding of unique needs of adolescents and how their characteristics impact curriculum and instruction; Evidence of expertise in working with children in a heterogeneous classroom setting and ability to differentiate instruction; Familiarity of and/or experience in teaching world language and understanding of best practices in spanish; Familiarity and/or experience in utilizing small group instruction to support a wide-range of learners; Effective classroom management skills that promote a positive learning environment; Willingness to participate in collaborative lesson planning; Strong written and verbal communication skills; and Knowledge of effective MTSS practices.
