Teacher An ESOL instructor (English for Speakers of Other Languages) in Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) provides English language instruction to students who are learning English as a second language. This role involves teaching various language skills, including grammar, writing, listening, and speaking, and also encompasses cultural and social-emotional development to support students’ academic success. Key responsibilities of an ESOL instructor in M-DCPS include: •
Instructional Delivery:
Delivering engaging and effective English language lessons using various teaching methods. •
Curriculum Development:
Preparing course objectives and outlines, and developing lesson plans aligned with curriculum guidelines. •
Assessment and Evaluation:
Assessing student progress through homework, classwork, and tests, and providing feedback to students and parents. •
Student Support:
Providing academic and social-emotional support to students, addressing any adjustment or learning challenges. •
Classroom Management:
Maintaining a positive and productive learning environment. •
Communication and Collaboration:
Communicating with parents, collaborating with other teachers and staff, and participating in professional development activities. •
Compliance:
Ensuring compliance with relevant federal, state, and district regulations related to ESOL programs. •
Record Keeping:
Maintaining accurate attendance and grade records. •
Professional Development:
Participating in faculty meetings, professional development opportunities, and educational conferences. •
Curriculum Alignment:
Ensuring alignment with the Florida State Standards for English Language Arts and the
M-DCPS ESOL
curriculum. In addition to these core responsibilities, ESOL instructors in M-DCPS may also: Work with students of various ages and grade levels . Support students in mainstream classrooms : by providing language support and modifications. Collaborate with other educators : to develop and implement differentiated instruction for ESOL students. Use technology and digital resources : to enhance language learning. Participate in school-based ESOL committees : and initiatives.

$15,000.00 – $40,000.00 per year
