Westford Academy in Westford, MA is seeking qualified candidates for a FT High School Spanish teacher.

Westford World Language Department Core Beliefs

We believe that students learn best when they are exposed to and actively use the target language at least 90% of the time in the classroom.

Department Highlights:

Students may select from 5 languages: 6-8 (French, German, Latin, Spanish) with the addition of Mandarin in grades 9-12
Exchange programs in France, Germany, and Spain
Participation in the MA Seal of Biliteracy Program with 65 recipients in 2024-25
Collaborative work environment in which teachers evaluate and design curriculum, share materials, develop assessments, and problem solve together

Position Responsibilities:

Teach 5 classes of Spanish, both College Prep and Honors, primarily Novice and Intermediate levels
Candidates should have advanced oral proficiency in Spanish
Candidates should have a solid understanding of the ACTFL Standards and the 2021 MA World Language Frameworks
Create a proficiency based classroom learning environment that is engaging, student-centered, and safe and welcoming
Incorporate authentic materials and target all four modes of communication
Assess the progress of students towards proficiency goals using a variety of assessment types, including performance-based assessments
Partner and communicate with families and specific staff members to best meet the needs of each individual student
Work effectively and collaboratively with students and colleagues
Valid Massachusetts DESE teaching licensure, Foreign Language [Spanish], Grades 5-12 required
