Full Job Description Position Summary:
We are looking for a creative and enthusiastic Chinese Culture STEAM Instructor to design and lead hands-on, project-based classes that blend Chinese traditions with science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM). This unique class aims to spark curiosity while deepening students’ understanding of Chinese culture through interactive learning.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and teach a weekly STEAM curriculum that integrates Chinese cultural elements (e.g., festivals, inventions, arts, folktales). Lead engaging, age-appropriate activities that include crafts, experiments, building challenges, storytelling, and group projects. Encourage creativity, collaboration, and cultural pride in the classroom. Prepare and manage class materials; ensure safety and engagement. Adapt teaching methods for different age groups and learning styles. Communicate with staff and parents as needed about student progress and class updates.
Example Project Themes:
Build a working model of a Chinese lantern using circuits. Design Great Wall-inspired structures using recycled materials. Explore the math behind Chinese knots or paper folding. Use Chinese folktales to inspire stop-motion storytelling or engineering challenges. Create simple brush-painting robots for Chinese New Year.
Qualifications:
Background in education, science, art, or related fields. Familiarity with Chinese culture, festivals, and traditions. Experience working with children in classroom or enrichment settings. Creative, organized, and comfortable leading hands-on activities. Strong communication and classroom management skills. Bilingual (Mandarin/English) is a strong plus, but not required.
