Full Job Description Job Summary:
The Movement and Spanish Teacher is responsible for implementing developmentally appropriate gross motor and Spanish language experiences for children ages 1.5 to 5 years. This hybrid role supports physical development through structured movement activities for toddlers and transition-aged children and introduces foundational Spanish vocabulary and cultural exposure for children in the transition through Pre-K classrooms. The teacher will create a warm, engaging, and safe environment that fosters curiosity, coordination, confidence, and communication through movement and language.
Key Responsibilities:

Spiritual and Emotional Environment:
Foster a joyful, respectful atmosphere that reflects love for God and others. Build trusting relationships with children, modeling kindness, patience, and encouragement. 2. Movement Instruction (Ages 1.5-3.5): Plan and lead large body gross motor activities aligned with Missouri Early Learning Standards and physical development domains. Support balance, coordination, core strength, and body awareness through age-appropriate routines. Ensure all activities are safe, inclusive, and adapted as needed for varying developmental levels. 3. Spanish Language Instruction (Ages 2.5-5): Introduce children to basic Spanish vocabulary through songs, games, stories, and hands-on experiences. Provide consistent exposure and repetition in a fun, supportive environment. Celebrate diverse cultures through integrated activities and themed lessons. 4.
Safety and Supervision:
Maintain active supervision at all times, ensuring children are never left unattended. Use designated spaces (movement area/classroom) safely and return equipment to storage after use. 5.
Classroom and Equipment Management:
Prepare materials in advance of class and clean/put away after each session. Sanitize shared equipment following health and safety protocols. 6.
Documentation and Planning:
Document observations and reflect on engagement and skill progression. Adjust lesson plans as needed to align with children’s needs and interests. 7.
Professional Development:
Complete a minimum of 12 hours of annual training, including CPR/First Aid/AED certifications. Attend required staff meetings and school events. 8.
Collaboration and Teamwork:
Work closely with classroom teachers and assistants to ensure smooth transitions between activities. Coordinate schedules and routines to support the overall program flow. 9.
Attendance and Time Management:
Arrive on time and prepared for scheduled sessions. Notify the Director by 7:00 a.m. in the event of illness or emergency. Record time and complete any absence documentation in accordance with program policies. 10.
Physical Requirements:
Be able to lift and move equipment (up to 35 lbs). Physically participate in movement activities with children. Move between classrooms and program spaces as scheduled. 11.
Additional Responsibilities:
Support program events and initiatives as requested by the Director. Perform additional duties as needed to ensure the success of the early childhood program.
