out of 5 stars East Hampton, NY 11937 Job Overview We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Teacher to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will create a positive learning environment that fosters student engagement and academic growth. The primary objective of this faculty position is educating and providing daily direction to students in grades 6-12 teaching Mandarin I, II, III, IV, V, VI and some Independent Study. This role requires a commitment to nurturing students’ intellectual, emotional, and social development while implementing effective teaching strategies tailored to individual learning needs. Duties The Teacher creates and implements curriculum under the direction of the Domain Dean(s) and/or Division Head. The Teacher ensures that appropriate domain-specific standards and benchmarks are addressed and actively participates in the integration of all domains through regularly scheduled team meetings at the appropriate grade level/s. The Teacher is responsible for all aspects of the development, refinement, implementation of the academic program for the courses he/she teaches, with full documentation in designated digital tools. The Teacher designs and implements lessons and projects in a manner consistent with the Ross School mission and philosophy and provides students with frequent age-appropriate and differentiated assignments, ongoing assessment, and timely feedback. The Teacher writes progress reports and learning evaluations specific to each student and prepares for and participates in parent-teacher conferences. The teacher is expected to keep parents of students he/she teaches or advises informed of student progress, when appropriate, in between formal learning evaluations and conferences and to respond to parent emails and calls in a timely manner. In addition to teaching his or her assigned courses, the Teacher supports the school’s academic program by serving as mentor to Ross Senior Projects and Modernity Projects, and by leading and/or participating in daily mindfulness practice. The Teacher has required duties in the area of Student Life many times throughout the year, to be assigned based on the needs of the school. Duties include weekday afternoons and evenings as well as some weekends. The Teacher has additional duties such as coverage, coaching and extra tutorial support, as determined by the Division Head or his/her delegate. The Teacher is required to attend August professional development, other professional development workshops and courses including some after school sessions during the school year, and faculty meetings. The Teacher may be asked to mentor new teachers and/or associates, and is expected to uphold the Ross Mission, Philosophy and Core Values at all times. The Teacher is expected to participate in travel and special events specific to the grade level. Duties and responsibilities may be modified from time to time and additional duties may be assigned. The Teacher is expected to uphold and model all policies and procedures that apply to all employees as outlined in the Faculty and Staff Handbook, Ross Institute and Ross School. Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with curriculum standards. Utilize learning technology to enhance the educational experience and facilitate interactive learning. Assess student progress through various methods, including tests, assignments, and observations. Provide tutoring support to students who require additional assistance in subjects such as Algebra. Incorporate copy editing skills to guide students in improving their writing and communication abilities. Foster a supportive classroom environment that encourages participation and collaboration among students. Engage in curriculum development to ensure that educational materials are relevant and effective. Support childhood development by integrating age-appropriate activities into lesson plans. Participate in sports coaching or extracurricular activities to promote physical education and teamwork. Collaborate with library services to enhance resource availability for students. Student Supervisory Responsibilities Responsibilities include understanding the developmental and emotional needs as well as milestones for the age group; always ensuring the safety of students; educating students through differentiation of instruction and the ongoing tracking of student performance; identifying and responding to student issues in a timely and productive manner; directing and coordinating of student activities; participating in student life skills and/or advisory program. Qualifications The Teacher is expected to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and must be able to accept and assume assigned responsibilities and make responsible decisions when required that are aligned with the Ross Mission, Philosophy, and Core Values. Education and/or Experience Minimum Bachelor Degree in related discipline. Higher education preferred. Skills/Knowledge/Abilities Required Ability to demonstrate expert knowledge of content and skills related to discipline(s) hired to teach. Ability to effectively engage with learners of all levels and backgrounds. Ability to demonstrate awareness and importance of international education and intercultural understanding. Ability to create learning environments that promote active engagement of all students. Ability to support the academic needs and course work for students, families, and other professionals associated with Ross distance learning programs. Ability to read, analyze, develop, and interpret documents such as curriculum, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals in the language of instruction. Ability to work collaboratively to advance the goals and strategic plan of the organization consistent with the Ross Mission, Philosophy, and Core Values. Ability to accept and work in a dynamic setting with multiple priorities. Ability to demonstrate a sense of purpose and priorities balanced with a sense of humor. Ability to communicate in a professional manner, both written and orally, with parents, students, colleagues, and others. Ability to speak effectively before groups and /or employees of the organization. Ability to effectively use technology in communication and instruction. Ability to engage in teamwork and work cooperatively with others. Ability to engage in and support all research initiatives of the organization as a Lab School. Ability to relocate from one physical space to another throughout the course of the teaching day as well as attend off site field trips •Duties and responsibilities of staff members may be modified from time to time by management.
