The Plum Borough School District is seeking a dynamic and culturally responsive Spanish Teacher to join our World Languages department at Plum Senior High School. The ideal candidate is a passionate educator dedicated to fostering students’ communicative competence and deep appreciation of the Spanish language and its diverse cultures. This teacher will play a vital role in preparing students to navigate and contribute to multilingual communities locally and globally. As a World Languages Teacher 7-12, you will deliver proficiency-based instruction that integrates language acquisition with cultural knowledge and real-world application. You will inspire curiosity, global awareness, and respect for the traditions and lived experiences of Spanish-speaking communities across the world.

Key Responsibilities:

Design and deliver engaging, student-centered instruction aligned to ACTFL standards, PA Core Standards, and proficiency-based benchmarks.
Develop communicative competence in listening, speaking, reading, and writing through immersive and authentic learning experiences.
Integrate technology and culturally relevant resources to create meaningful, real-world applications of language skills.
Foster a classroom environment that supports linguistic risk-taking, celebrates diversity, and encourages global citizenship.
Collaborate with colleagues across disciplines to support interdisciplinary learning and contribute to a robust world languages program.
Engage families and the broader school community to build support for language learning and cultural exploration.
Assess student progress using varied, formative, and summative tools that reflect real-world language use.
Participate in ongoing professional learning to remain current in world language pedagogy and cultural literacy.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in World Languages, Language Education, or a related field.
Master’s degree preferred in Education, Curriculum & Instruction, Applied Linguistics, or World Language Studies is preferred.
Valid Pennsylvania Instructional Certificate in World Languages PK-12 in Spanish (as per CSPG 45). Additional certifications or bilingual endorsements are highly preferred.

Minimum Experience:

Successful teaching experience in a world language classroom.
Demonstrated ability to develop proficiency-based curriculum.
Experience with interdisciplinary collaboration and instructional technology integration.
