Faculty position to teach on the Spartanburg and/or Greenville campus.
The Department of Languages, Literature, and Composition in the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences, invites qualified candidates to submit applications for the position of full-time Instructor of American Sign Language and Deaf Culture. This is a 9-month, non-tenure track position.
The selected candidate will teach a 32-credit load each academic year that includes introductory and upper-level classes in American Sign Language and Deaf Culture and participate in departmentalmittees and service initiatives. The selected candidate will also serve as a coordinator for the ASL minor and will be responsible for student recruitment and outreach, organizing speakers and active-learning opportunities, and developing programmatic curricula for ASL classes, both in-person and online. The department seeks a dynamic, motivated individual who is dedicated to excellence in teaching and student success and who has experience in academic program development andmunity outreach.

Required Education and Experience Master’s degree or a minimum of 18 hours of graduate work in ASL, Deaf Culture, or general Deaf Studies is required. At least one year of teaching ASL, Deaf Culture, general Deaf Studies, or related fields at the undergraduate level is required. A successful background check is required.
Preferred Qualifications Ph.D. in ASL, Deaf Culture, general Deaf Studies, Educational Leadership, or related field. Knowledge of ACTFL World Readiness Standards, demonstrated experience with program development, and at least 3 years experience teaching at the college/university-level is preferred.
