This position is mainly in-person, so only local hires will be considered. The educator will work 2-4 hours every other weekend in a fluid small group workshop/incubator environ for the 2025-2026 school year, with plans to grow the workshop to 8-10 students by spring term. There is the possibility of a mini business workshop in early August 2025 (to get the students going ahead of the school year). The educator is expected to be able to teach 4th-12th grade business education, entrepreneurship with creativity and an understanding of how to take an idea and make it into a reality. Educators with a dual background in business education and computer science are preferred; understanding of conceptualization and helping students take products to market will be incredibly important. Additional knowledge of branding, marketing and/or design is a plus. Ideal candidates must have the following:
- Experience teaching business education for Grades 4-12 for a minimum of 3 years
- Additional experience teaching computer science, coding, financial literacy, design, STEM a plus (but business background a MUST)
- Teaching certification preferred
- Degree in Business, Finance and/or Comp Sci (with business concentration)
- Experience with and understanding of differentiation for students
- Conscientious, creative, engaging, flexible and professional
- Strong design and critical thinking skills
- Familiiarity with makerspace, 3-D printing, etc a plus
- Strong handle on developing and curating curriculum, comfortable with creating lesson plans, assessments, projects and tests
- Experience working 1-on-1, small group classes or in homeschool constructs
- Ability to create interdisciplinary activities
- Availability between 10 am and 2 pm on a Saturday or Sunday 2-3 times a month (sometimes can flip to a Friday or Monday if works for all), occasional weekday availability
- Have a personal computer with email/MS Office AND a cell phone with access to email
- Be a United States citizen with proper U.S. government documentation OR have a valid green card with permission to work in the U.S.
- Hourly rate is $100-125/hr+ as a p/t W2 employee; pay is commensurate with experience and overall skill set Please submit your curriculum vitae, cover letter and a list of three references.
