Designs and implements an effective and appropriate educational and vocational training program for assigned students to prepare them for employment; works collaboratively with pupils, parents, support staff, administrators, health organizations, agencies, and community groups to enhance the training and employment opportunities for students. Duties and Responsibilities Develop lesson plans. Work directly with students to understand the worldwide impact of the Logistics Industry. Instruct students on the concepts of supply chain management. Develop and use instructional materials suitable for verbal and/or visual instruction of students. Teach students how to use inventory management software and machines in the logistics classroom. Provide normal maintenance of the lab and equipment, including shrink-wrap machines, forklift simulators, pallet jacks, and forklift and warehouse equipment. Provide learning experiences and teach the course of study prescribed by the District and State State-approved curriculum. Provide individual and group instruction designed to meet individual needs and motivate students. Utilize classroom management techniques conducive to an effective classroom climate. Facilitate simulated work-based learning activities by partnering with departments throughout the school. Students should learn receiving techniques and inventory processes. Establish and maintain standards of student control required to achieve effective participation in all activities. Evaluate the academic and social growth of students and keep appropriate records. Prepare students for life after high school by introducing them to the different options available to them in the workforce, military, and/or college. Implement classroom policies and procedures that emulate workplace policies and procedures to help ready to students for the workforce. Identify student needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health, attitude, and learning problems. Use appropriate techniques and strategies which promote and enhance critical, creative, and innovative thinking capabilities of students. Select and requisition instructional materials; maintains inventory records. Takes all necessary safety precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. Cooperate in school-wide supervision of students during out-of-classroom activities; supervise students in fieldwork. Participate in faculty and/or district committees and the sponsorship of student activities. Perform other related work as required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to meet the needs of all learners. Ability to use a variety of equipment and classroom tools such as computers, copiers, calculators, pencils, scissors, equipment for children, etc. Ability to manage time, meet deadlines, prioritize projects, plan starting and ending deadlines, and successfully bring closure to projects. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability and desire to seek and pass on knowledge to others in an educational/learning environment. Proficiency in common computer desktop applications required. Teach and demonstrate a “Safety First” environment. Ability to manage a variety of correspondence, reports, handbooks, forms, lists, etc. Requires the ability to prepare correspondence, simple reports, forms, instructional materials, etc., using prescribed format. Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagrammatic form; and to deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Ability to record and deliver information, to explain procedures, and to follow oral and written instructions. Must be able to communicate effectively and efficiently in a variety of technical or professional languages, including medical terminology. Ability to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions. Must be adaptable to performing under stress and when confronted with emergency situations. Ability to manage instructional time. Ability to use hands while demonstrating how to safely use the different types of warehouse equipment that are used to move product and supplies in, out, and around the warehouse. Ability to teach the proper lifting techniques safely to students. Ability to teach the safety and proper usage of the different types of ladders. Physical Requirements Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of reaching, walking, standing, talking, lifting, hearing, and repetitive motions. Must be able to perform medium work exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Must possess the visual acuity to prepare data, work with records, processes, and do extensive reading and research. The work includes biohazards and/or risks for potential job-related injury, such as those found in a laboratory or warehouse environment. Minimum Education and Experience An associate’s degree in the area of licensure with four years of industry-related work experience or a bachelor’s degree in the area of licensure with two years of industry-related work experience is required.
