Weddington, NC High School IB Business Teacher Position Summary:

The High School IB Business Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging, rigorous instruction aligned with the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB DP) and North Carolina Standard Course of Study. This educator will prepare students for success in the IB Business Management course, fostering critical thinking, ethical decision-making, and global-mindedness. The teacher will create a classroom environment that encourages inquiry, collaboration, and academic excellence.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Teach IB Business Management courses (Standard and Higher Level), including planning, instruction, assessment, and feedback aligned with IB curriculum frameworks. Design engaging lessons that promote real-world application and align with IB philosophy and learner profiles. Prepare students for IB internal assessments and external exams, including feedback and revision support, when applicable. Maintain accurate and complete student records, including grading, attendance, and assessment data in compliance with IB and school requirements. Collaborate with the IB Coordinator, school leadership, and fellow teachers to ensure alignment with the school’s IB Diploma Programme and mission. Actively participate in IB training and professional development, including required Category 1 and 2 workshops. Communicate regularly and effectively with parents, students, and colleagues to support student learning and well-being. Demonstrate cultural competency and support a diverse student body. Uphold and model the IB learner profile and school’s core values. Perform other duties as assigned by school administration.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Education, or related field Two or more years of successful teaching experience at the high school level Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Proficiency with technology and digital learning platforms

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Business, Education, or a related field NC DPI licensure (or eligibility for licensure) in Business Education Prior experience teaching IB Business Management Experience or training in IB curriculum or inquiry-based learning preferred Knowledge of the IB Diploma Programme structure and assessment components Experience working in a charter or international school environment

Based upon experience, degree/certification, NC State Salary Guide and the Union County Licensed Teacher Supplement.
