The department invites applications for one executive in residence lecturer position in health care management. The executive in residence in health care management lecturer position is an academic year position with the goal of bringing a C-suite health care industry leader to the program for the purposes of teaching courses, curriculum enhancement and joint research, marketing and recruitment, and mentoring in the areas of professional development, executive skills, and innovation with undergraduate students through our campus-based health care management program, graduate students in our master of health administration program, and faculty in the program and college. Specific areas of interest include senior leadership and regional/national expertise in the continuum of care and long term care, experience working with students from all backgrounds, and facilitate students’ application of principles and concepts in health care scenarios will be given strong consideration. Appalachian State University’s Beaver College of Health Sciences (BCHS) is transforming the health and quality of lives of individuals, families, and communities through inclusive practices, interprofessional collaboration, and innovation in teaching, scholarship, service, and clinical outreach. The BCHS supports over 3,400 students in nine undergraduate and nine graduate degree programs, organized into six academic departments. The programs are located in Boone in the Holmes Convocation Center and the Leon Levine Hall of Health Sciences, the cornerstone of Boone’s Wellness District. We also have a presence on our new campus in Hickory. The college supports the Appalachian Institute for Health and Wellness and has a collaborative partnership with the Wake Forest School of Medicine’s Physician Assistant Program and multiple health and human service agencies across the region.

The Health Care Management program began in 1972 and has been continuously certified by AUPHA since 1984. With over 1,500 graduates, the program has a strong team of faculty with executive healthcare leadership experience along with a dynamic network of professionals working in health systems, physician practices, senior care organizations, and other healthcare organizations throughout North Carolina and the nation. App State offers both campus-based and online Health Care Management programs. App State also offers an online Master of Health Administration (MHA) degree that began in the fall of 2016.
