Horry-Georgetown Technical College (HGTC) is a two -year community/technical college that offers more than 75 associate degree, diploma, and certificate programs for students who are either seeking quick entry into the workforce or desiring to transfer to a senior institution to pursue a bachelor’s degree. HGTC offers three convenient campus locations in South Carolina, including Myrtle Beach, Conway and Georgetown. Horry-Georgetown Technical College is seeking candidates for an Associate Professor, Hospitality & Tourism Management. The selected candidate is responsible for, but not limited to, preparation and instruction of classroom materials using multiple teaching methods to include technology, and to assist in evaluating student achievement of learning outcomes relating to a variety of hospitality management courses with emphasis on Hotel and Tourism Management. Immediate need is for a full-time faculty member to work with the Executive Director of the International Culinary Institute of Myrtle Beach to teach, lead & grow the Hospitality and Tourism associates degree program. Duties the incumbent must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation, include the following:
Provides instruction in hospitality management and tourism curriculum courses in person and online formats.
Provide strong recruitment and retention efforts to attract new students into the Hospitality & Tourism Program.
Demonstrate strong industry knowledge and professional engagement in the hospitality sector.
Experience with or willingness to engage in program development, curriculum design, and academic leadership.
Prepares course materials such as syllabi, homework assignments and handouts
Evaluates and grades students’ class work, laboratory work, assignments, papers, and examinations
Maintains and submits student attendance records, grades and other required documentation by specified deadlines
Demonstrates and facilitates diversity awareness and sensitivity;
Adheres to College and departmental policies, standards and procedures;
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage effectively with students, faculty, industry partners, and community stakeholders.

Minimum Requirements:

Master’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, Tourism Management, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.

Preferred Qualifications:

Doctorate (Ph.D.) or terminal degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, Tourism Management,
Leadership experience in higher education or industry, such as department chair, or senior management role in the hospitality sector.
Experience developing and launching new academic programs, particularly in hospitality management or related fields.
Demonstrated ability to secure external funding, such as research grants, industry sponsorships, or philanthropic support.
Experience in curriculum innovation, incorporating experiential learning, case-based teaching, and technology-driven approaches to hospitality education.
