This hire will be expected to elevate academic standing through scholarly excellence, strengthen the doctoral program, drive curriculum innovation, foster industry partnerships, and expand global influence. The ideal candidate will possess an outstanding professional reputation, with a track record of securing external funding and recognition through major industry and academic awards. The candidate will be expected to continue outstanding scholarly activity, contributing significantly to their field and the educational mission of the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management and the University of South Carolina.

Required Education and Experience:

Earned doctorate in Hospitality Management or Tourism Management or a related discipline. Possesses minimally nine years of relevant experience. Demonstrated evidence in attracting external funding.

Candidates must be a distinguished scholar in the field of hospitality management, ranking among the most distinguished scholars in the country, and possessing a strong national and international reputation.

Research and Leadership:

A national reputation for research scholarship and leadership, evidenced by receipt of extramural research funding, appointments to review panels and editorial boards, and receipt of research recognition awards.

Teaching Excellence:

A well-established reputation as a distinguished teacher, combining excellence in scholarship with a commitment to students and their intellectual development.

Institutional Commitment:

A proven record of interest and concern with the growth and success of their institution (current or previous) and colleagues, with particular attention to mentoring junior colleagues and graduate students.

Breadth of Interest:

Demonstration of interest in activities in other related fields and departments, and participation in university affairs generally.

Quality and Quantity of Scholarly Work:

A high quality and significant number of scholarly and creative works, enhancing the university’s reputation through regional, national, and international recognition of their professional work.

Service:

Service to the university and to the profession that distinguishes both the individual and the university. Initial review of applicants will commence April 10 and continue until the position is filled. The appointment start date will be August 16, 2025. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
