Job Summary/Basic Function
The Department of Chemistry at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position (#103250) in Forensic Chemistry at the rank of assistant or associate professor. The start date for the position is August 1, 2025.
The successful candidate will join a dynamic department with 33 full-time faculty members offering ACS-certified degrees in Chemistry and ASBMB accredited Biochemistry, a MS degree in Chemistry, and Ph.D. degrees in three interdisciplinary science programs (Computational Science, Molecular Biosciences, and Mathematics & Science Education). Key Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain an externally, nationally recognized funded research program that will contribute to the accredited interdisciplinary B.S. program in Forensic Science.
Engage undergraduate and graduate students in research activities.
Enthusiastically and effectively teach undergraduate and graduate courses in forensic science and chemistry.
Contribute to the interdisciplinary B.S. program in Forensic Science.
Participate in departmental, college, university, and community service activities.
Contribute to one of the Ph.D. programs in Computational Science, Molecular Biosciences, or Mathematics and Science Education.
Required Education
A terminal degree in chemistry or a closely related field is required by the appointment date.
Other Desirables
Applicants with post-doctoral experience will receive special consideration.
