Head Girls Basketball Coach 3.5 3.5 out of 5 stars Plantersville, AL Qualifications Bachelor’s degree and valid teaching certification preferred (not required) Must obtain fingerprint clearance from the Alabama State Department of Education prior to start date Prior coaching experience required, preferably at the high school level In-depth knowledge of football strategies, techniques, and rules Familiarity with Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) rules, policies, and requirements Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills Demonstrated commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive, and disciplined team environment Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain) Essential Duties and Responsibilities Support and align with the mission and goals of Dallas County School District Develop and lead a comprehensive, competitive football program for high school student-athletes Provide instruction, mentorship, and coaching to enhance individual skills and team performance Promote sportsmanship, accountability, and team unity among players Organize and conduct structured practice sessions focused on skill development, fitness, and game strategy Supervise and collaborate with assistant coaches to ensure consistent and effective coaching methods Monitor student-athlete academic progress and overall well-being Communicate regularly with parents, school administrators, and other stakeholders regarding program updates and expectations Ensure compliance with district, state, and AHSAA regulations and safety protocols Participate in professional development activities, including coaching clinics, workshops, and district training sessions Perform additional duties as assigned by school and district leadership Required Skills and Competencies Ability to follow and communicate clear oral and written instructions Strong interpersonal skills; able to effectively engage with students, parents, staff, and administrators Ability to manage time effectively and balance multiple responsibilities Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism at all times Reliable, punctual, and dependable in attendance and adherence to schedules Ability to build positive working relationships with colleagues and school community Understanding of child development and age-appropriate instructional practices Familiarity with educational standards, curriculum, and current instructional strategies Basic proficiency in educational technology and coaching tools Physical Requirements Must be able to sit, stand, walk, talk, and hear for extended periods Frequent use of hands for writing, typing, or equipment handling Occasional bending, kneeling, stooping, and lifting up to 25 pounds Visual requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus Reasonable accommodations will be made to support individuals with disabilities in performing essential job functions
