Softball Coach 3.8 3.8 out of 5 stars Wallace, AL JOB The Softball Coach is responsible for coaching, coordination, fund-raising, and administration of activities associated with the College’s softball program. Conducts athletic activities in accordance with respective rules, regulations, and policies of the College and the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), Alabama Community College Conference (ACCC), and the Alabama Community College System. Supervises operations of athletic field house and workout facility.

Based on education and experience commensurate with Salary Schedule C3 (range: $48,578

  • $97,216).

Higher education could earn placement on a higher salary schedule.

ANTICIPATED START DATE

JULY 1, 2025The position will be based initially at the Wallace Campus in Dothan.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION

Softball Operations. Keeps current on and helps ensure that the College’s softball program stays in full compliance with related rules and regulations of NJCAA, ACCC, and Alabama Community College System. Keeps the Athletic Director informed of all aspects of the team’s needs.

Attends division, state, and regional meetings that relate to the team.

Encourages players to excel in all enrolled courses.

Monitors the academic progress of all players.

Completes and submits all players’ eligibility reports and forms as required.

Develops and establishes institute programs such as camps and clinics designed for coaches, athletes, and prospective recruits.

Serves on and provides information to College committees as needed.

Assists in the recruitment and retention of students.

Works closely with Athletic Director on the development of annual budgets.

Operates department within budgetary limits.

Performs fund-raising activities to ensure necessary funding for the sport.

Completes, processes, and provides timely copies of all athletic insurance-related forms and paperwork to Athletic Director.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION

Supervision. Supervises and directs Softball Program personnel in providing quality athletic activities for WCC.Supervises assigned staff by setting schedules, assigning tasks, evaluating performance, and making disciplinary decisions.

Provides staff with regular feedback based on their ongoing coaching strategies and job performance.

Establishes ethical and professional standards for staff to ensure all adhere to the codes and handle moral or ethical dilemmas appropriately.

Support staff to navigate dynamics throughout the coaching process to ensure a healthy and ethical environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION

Athletics Department Operations. The employee performs administrative tasks such as budgeting, reporting, and maintaining compliance with relevant policies. Assists with nominations for conference and national athletic awards with the ACCC and NJCAA.Provides oversight of maintenance of athletic facilities and grounds.

Provides academic advising to players and ensures that all student

  • athletes receive appropriate academic support services.

Coordinates community service activities and projects for student athletes and teams.

Monitors team and individual statistical submittals to conference and national offices.

Attends conferences and national meetings on the Athletic Director’s behalf when necessary.

Supervises field house and workout facility.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION

Recruitment. Performs recruiting duties for softball program and the College. Recruits student athletes for WCC, hosts visits, assists in finding living quarters for athletes, assists in admitting athletes to the College, and determines scholarship recipients.

Travels to as appropriate to observe potential athletes.

Publicize information on upcoming athletic events, camps, award recipients, and achievements of individual student athletes and teams.

Direct youth camps run as part of the WCC Athletic Department.

Maintain athletic web pages of the WCC website.

Design necessary athletic publications.

Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION
